I am a professional actor, a proud member of Canadian Actors' Equity Association, Union of BC Performers and the Alliance of Canadian Cinema Television and Radio Artists. For the past five years I have been working on the front line as a Constituency Advisor in the North Vancouver- Seymour MLA community office. I am also a member of BCGEU Local 703.

In addition to the clerical and administrative business skills I use in the office, I have also used my love of life-long learning to develop diverse performance skills (juggling, magic, public speaking, balloon animal twisting, clowning, writing, producing, directing and teaching) to maintain a fullfilling artistic career on stage, screens, and on the street. Born and raised in Edmonton, I attended Victoria Composite High School's performing arts program and went on to study acting and playwright at the Banff School of Fine Arts and the University of Alberta. Before I completed my degree, I was offered a job as resident actor at Stage Polaris. Five shows a year plus summer drama camps; it was a great gig.

It was at the Stage Polaris Academy of Drama that I started teaching drama classes in 1986. Starting with juggling workshops, moving onto acting classes and directing student productions, teaching has always been a way for me to stay active and in the profession in addition to performance engagements.

At the turn of the century, I moved to Vancouver. I taught drama classes at the Burr Theatre, Vancouver School Board Continuing Education and Evergreen Arts in Coquitlam. At the Evergreen, I was performing arts education coordinator, tasked with developing and selling arts education programs, curriculum, development, and facilitating performing arts workshops for SD 43 Pro D days.

I currently teach adult improvisation and film/television acting at Evergreen Arts and I take my Storytelling Through Drama Games Workshop into school classrooms in SD 43 and 42. I will be teaching clowning and magic for kids and adult drama at Christine Sinclair/ Shadbolt community programs later this fall. I have recently been performing physical theatre (juggling/magic) for the Arts Club Education program.

I believe the purpose of primary and secondary education is to teach empathy through diversity, secularism and inclusion. Curiosity, creativity, and a questioning mind, are some of the skills that the arts in education (and science) promote.
