I was raised in Nanaimo. I am a father of two small children, a former small business owner, a co-founder of a worker-owned tree service cooperative, and a two-term Nanaimo City Councillor. My educational background is a B.Sc. in Biology and an M.A. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with work experience across the non-profit, government and private sectors.

As a city councillor, I have a strong record of getting important things done; from affordable housing to waste reduction. This term I served as President of the Association of Vancouver Island and Coastal Communities, pressing the province on regional issues like better access to health care, protecting our drinking water and an improved disaster response.

Reason for running

submitted by the candidate or their team
I'm running again with a proven record of taking action, so we can protect what we love, make life more affordable and build a strong, vibrant Nanaimo where everyone can thrive

I first ran for council because our growing city needed leadership that listens to the community and gets things done. I've worked hard to deliver results and make Nanaimo a better place to live, for everyone. There's more to do. We need to keep pushing on homelessness, health care, the cost of living and preparing for a changing climate, and reach our full potential as the heart of Vancouver Island.
