Biography

submitted by the candidate or their team
36 yrs as RCMP officer. 9.5 yrs on Nanaimo City Council. Involved in the Community and believe in strong governance

I have had many leadership roles and understand the importance of teamwork and respect. If I am unsure of an issue, I research it, ask questions of staff and other experts in the field, and listen to members of the community. I’ve managed budgets and completed the Federal government finance course. I understand how the city budget works, what sources of funds are available, and how we spend them. I am used to setting priorities and the importance of adhering to them. This needs to be done as a group, not as an individual. I believe my nine years in council is a definite asset.Respect for the community and other people has always been important to me. I believe in staying engaged with the community by attending community events, being available to discuss issues, whether by social media, email or in person.
