Hello, I am Benita Sun. I have settled in Burnaby since the early 2000s and have called it home for 20 years.

I operated an independent family daycare business in Burnaby for 10 years. Subsequently, because of my responsibility to care for my child, I shifted my career path and joined the local Burnaby business as a customer service front‑line manager.

Through this work, I supported numerous local families and understood the real‑life challenges faced by families who migrate to Canada and encounter difficulties navigating the BC public‑school system. Consequently, I envision that we can implement changes to improve our education and transform it into a world‑class system.

As a parent, my child finished elementary and high school in Burnaby and will start studies at SFU in September. This experience has given me practical knowledge of our local education system. I strongly believe in positive, strength‑based education and prioritize every child’s healthy development.

I care deeply about ensuring that parents, students, and educators are genuinely heard. My passion and strength lie in listening closely to their voices and bringing authentic, family-centered perspectives back to school board decision-making. I will advocate for practical, balanced policies that support every child and help Burnaby schools thrive.
