Biography
My work has focused on public education, infrastructure, community building, and public policy. Whether serving as Chair of the North Vancouver Board of Education or leading the BC Construction Roundtable, I believe the best decisions come from listening, respecting diverse perspectives, and working collaboratively.
The North Shore has been my home for more than 24 years. Through raising my family, volunteering and serving our community, I have developed a deep appreciation for the role strong public institutions play in helping communities thrive.
I currently serve on the Integrated Transportation Planning Commission and have contributed to our community in many roles, including ten years on the Ridgeway PAC and as Chair of the City of North Vancouver Social Planning Advisory Committee. I have also served on the City Advisory Planning Commission, North Vancouver Recreation Commission and Advisory Planning Commission, volunteered with Destination Imagination BC, and coached youth volleyball.
These experiences have given me a strong understanding of municipal policy, planning, community engagement and the important connections between our schools and the broader community.
I believe strong public education builds strong communities, and I remain committed to supporting students, staff, and families while helping prepare young people for the opportunities of tomorrow.
Reason for running
It has been a productive four years. During this term, students transitioned from online learning back to the classroom, and we worked in partnership with the Province, the City and District of North Vancouver, staff, families and PACs to strengthen public education across our community.
Together, we delivered new or improved playgrounds at seven schools, completed two school additions, opened a new elementary school and added two artificial turf fields. We rebuilt the district’s financial reserves, supported a vibrant professional learning network for teachers and continued providing a comprehensive education grounded in literacy and numeracy, with opportunities in music, sports, the arts, Indigenous learning and the natural world.
In the next term, I want to create more secondary-school pathways, with a particular focus on skilled trades and hands-on learning, while continuing to improve student learning outcomes and strengthen every student’s connection to their school and community.
