The depth of my experience in this community, and others, combined with my background in community service, my commitment to creating strong, viable and impactful community partnerships, leading and serving on a number of boards, will make me a strong voice at the Council table.
PoCo has been my home for 28 years; we have chosen to live here, to stay here, and to serve and support our community.
I was raised in a very small (tiny!) town of 200 people. I witnessed my parents and grandparents step in many times to serve and support that community. If something was needed - Cub or Guide leaders, swimming instructors, softball coaches, they stepped forward into those roles. Volunteering in my community is second nature for me. It is not about me - it about how I choose to serve.
My career in the for-profit and non-profit world has provided me with the knowledge, experience, and confidence to choose public service. I am experienced in leading budget discussions, creating policies and programs, and establishing good governance practices. As a board leader and board member, I have learned, and demonstrated, that leadership is not about being the loudest voice, or the busiest, or the most colourful.
Servant leadership is about showing up, putting in the effort, and remembering it is not about me - it is about the work I do.
