Biography

submitted to White Rock's elections office by the candidate
I am a two-term White Rock City Councillor, first elected in 2018 and re‑elected in 2022. A proud resident of White Rock since 1992, I am a teacher at Earl Marriott Secondary, and am married with three children.

Priority issues for me include: 1) ensuring the City follows the Official Community Plan and does NOT 'spot zone' towers outside of the town center. 2) Ensure development fits into White Rock's existing character and neighbourhoods. 3) Limit government spending and growth and work to keep taxes lower (I've voted against many City budgets because increases were too high) 4) support public safety. 5) Ensure government remains transparent and accessible (I voted to keep Question Period when others voted to limit or remove it, ensure FOI requests remain free, vote when ever possible to keep public hearings. 6) Work to support local businesses (fighting for changes to the sign bylaw to allow more options, free winter waterfront weekday parking [which has since been repealed unfortunately], supporting the expanded Farmer's market) 7) Ensure the City remains responsive resident needs 8) Use my council experience to have a voice on a new Pier, possible Community Hub, and hiring a new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), 9) Listen and help residents 10) use the affordable housing reserve to work with a partner to build supportive or affordable housing for seniors or people with physical or intellectual disabilities. 11) continue efforts to beautify White Rock, improve green spaces, and support the new community garden. Thank you!
